Wedding Day

We spent the time between Bishop and heading to Germany driving down the Pacific Coast Highway and met up with friends we haven’t seen in a long time. Susi and I flew out of San Diego and flew to Frankfurt, there we took a train to Koln. I didn’t sleep on the plane and managed to stay awake the entire day in Koln, not quite sure how I did it but I did. I made up for lost sleep though that evening by going to sleep at 10:00 PM and waking up at 2:30 PM in the afternoon the following day…yeah that is 16 hours of sleep!!!! We stayed in Koln at Dani’s place and went out to dinner our first Indonesian restaurant, quite tasty, not sure about the new German tradition of dumping a beer on someone at the dinner table though. Headed to a wedding as you can see from the photo above, all the girls in the photo were au pairs with Susi back in 1997 when Susi came to the USA for the first time. Had an amazing time with everyone and I can understand why Susi made quick friends with the group and has stayed in touch. Posted by Hello

Stop the presses!!!!

Is that Susi doing V2???? Oh yes it is ....she did her first V2 in the Druid Stones. The problem is called Able-bodied Goblin...you rock Susi!!!Posted by Hello

Druid Stones

The three of us Mark, Susi and I decided to hike up to the Druid Stones for some climbing. I think we got mark to quit smoking from the hike. All of you out there that have done the hike know what it is like, 45 minutes straight up hill. Erik I finally sent that problem Skye Dance (you know the one that required all those weird moves down low only to spit you off the top???) I would of publish the photo of myself but this one was much better. Posted by Hello

Cool Weather

Well the weather has cleared and it is time to send the projects before heading to Los Angeles. Mark an English bloke we met out here has been climbing with us and showing us Americans how to really climb. The photo is of mark sending Low Rider V10 and he did it in his tennies!!! Oh by the way he sent two V10's that day and I managed to squeak out my project a mere V7 in one guide book and V5/6 in another...so for my ego's sake I will have to call it V7...you all know me out there. Weather in Bishop

Just as I was bragging about the great weather out here a front has moved in and brought some frigid Canadian air down into the valley. All the climbers are hanging out in the coffee house and hoping the weather calms down. This was the beginning of the clouds as they began to roll into the valley. Susi and I traveled up to mammoth to do some hot spring soaking but just walking down to the tub I froze my toe beards off, so we will have to go another day when the wind calms down.

Still in Bishop

We are here in lovely Bishop until we head to Los Angeles to meet up with Jay, Lisa and the "kid" otherwise known as Patrick. I wish I could remember the name of the problem but it is pretty cool and is located in the happy boulders. All of you that have been here in Bishop know how nice the weather is everyday 70 degrees during the day and 40 degrees at night....perfect climbing and scrabble weather. Oh the tally is 19 games me and 18 games Susi...look out mom you got some real competition.

Bishop, California

We arrived in Bishop California Sunday afternoon and have been climbing in the Happy Boulders and the Buttermilks. The photo is of a friend who I knew back on the east coast who moved to Tahoe about seven months ago to master the art of being a climbing and ski bum. See mama Jay also graduated with an engineering degree and decided that he needed some time off. What do they do to us in engineering school??? Oh yeah Susi is sick...thanks Heidi. Oh yeah one last thing thanks Marik and Kristen for the jump start, cookies and the medicine for Susi. Posted by Hello

Snow Bowl Arizona

On our way to Bishop we saw this amazing mountain in Flagstaff and decided that we should spend the day skiing instead of driving. I had to wear my socks as gloves since we didn't plan on skiing but it was definetely worth it. Susi having a beer after another rough day on the road....the pressure. Oh by the way the conditions were amazing some of the best skiing we have ever done. Dave and Carmen Jealous????? Posted by Hello

Breakfast in Vegas

Breakfast Vegas style...how can you turn down a $1.49 14 oz. beer. Well Susi turned it down because she wanted to have breakfast first. Off to the Hoover Dam and then back to Phoenix to drop Heidi off tommorow morning. Posted by Hello

Zion National Park

We left the Grand Canyon and decided to go somewhere warm and spend the day loafing around at the request of my sister so we packed up and headed to Lake Powell....guess what the water was freezing so our idea of renting a boat and floating around in Lake Powell was a bust. Well I guess it is more hiking for you Heidi. We drove to Zion and spent the evening in a abandoned RV camp. Oh yeah the photo above is a picture of how Germans put there sneakers on....not really we had to do some stream crossings in Zion for our eight mile hike with 2600 feet in elevation gain....that's right Heidi the fat camp continues!!! Grand Canyon

Drove to the Grand Canyon after spending a freezing night in the Ihop parking lot in Flagstaff. The photo is of the Grand Canyon at sunset. We hiked into the canyon and man is it easier hiking down hills then back up them. My sister Heidi thinks that Susi and I have her at a fat camp the way we are hiking around. Posted by Hello
