Logging Festival

The town of Squamish is a logging town and once a year they have a competition for the local and professional loggers. We watched the amateurs because it was more fun and of course the admission was free. I wanted to enter but wasn't able to because they were afraid of my skills of splitting fire wood. This was our last day in Squamish with all the French Canadian friends we had made over the past month. We are heading to Vancouver to drop Fred off at the airport tonight. Posted by Picasa

The Chief

Susi and I thought we should include a photo of the Squamish Chief so that people can see the mountain we have been climbing for the past few weeks. Posted by Picasa

Car Troubles

The trip wouldn't be complete without another car report....as you can see from the photo the car gave us some more trouble today. The good news is that we were able to repair the car with a roll of duct tape. Thanks mom for the car kit because it has come in handy. Posted by Picasa

YMCA in Cheekamus

Not sure why we are doing the YMCA but the sunset was amazing the other day when we left Cheekamus. Beautiful views of the mountains in British Columbia. Posted by Picasa

Full moon bouldering

The other night was a full moon so a group of us decided to go climbing under the moonlight. The weather has been perfect and Lulu is barely getting used which we really enjoy since gas prices are similiar to Europes. We have been walking everywhere so Dad the transmission might not be rebuilt. Boy we love Squamish...we should be heading back to the states next week after the logging festival which is next weekend. Posted by Picasa

First Multipitch

Susi and I did our first multipitch climb in Squamish today. The weather was perfect and the rock was dry. Susi did amazing even though she was climbing at approximately 300 meters up off the ground. The photo is of the two of us on the third pitch. We did the climb with one of our camp mates Tee. This was also Tee's first time leading trad and he did quite well. Sorry about the lack of updates but the only place we have wireless is at a bar and we only go when they have food specials or for friends birthdays. Posted by Picasa

Squamish

This is an old photo of Campground Site 62 prior to our small trip to Skaha but some of the people in the photo are the ones that we are currently sharing the campsite with. From left to right Master Tee, a name he gave himself, Fredo, giving his official Magnum look, Lisa, myself, Michelle from Quebec and Luc who formerly lived in Quebec...missing in the photo is Susi who took the photo and Marjo who has returned to Montreal and from there we are not quite sure.....Marjo did you make it back home??? How did the test go??? Michelle great to hear from you also and you aren't missing much with the weather here right now. Posted by Picasa

Skaha

Five of us piled into old Lulu and headed to Skaha the snake capital of Canada. We fortunately only saw two snakes during our four day tenure in Penticton. The weather was gorgeous for most of the time and after climbing all day we would walk down to the lake and bathe in the fresh water. We looked like five homeless people washing our hair and bodies in the lake. We managed to find free camping and spent the days climbing and the evenings sitting around laughing around the campfire. We met a few other people who left Squamish too dodge the poor weather. I have finally lost my tan that I have been working on since February. Posted by Picasa

Pastime activities

Since the weather hasn't been that good we have been resorting to dumb climber activities. Master Tee is demonstrating the finer style of slack line walking in the rain. We are planning on heading to Skaha to attempt some climbing because the weather outlook for the next few days isn't looking promising. We are sharing the campsite with numerous French Canadians..another language I don't understand. Posted by Picasa

Canada

We are still alive and very wet here in lovely Canada. The first half of the trip we probably saw a total of two inches of rain....we have made up for it daily here in Squamish. We have managed a few days of climbing and early morning runs while dodging rain drops. The weather outlook isn't that good for the next week so we might move on somewhere else and return after a bit...not sure as the weather in the entire Northwest is pretty poor. Oh no pictures because they would only be of rain puddles and wet clothing...boy does the van start to smell with all of our wet shoes and clothing.
